Write-up in Baltimore Blog Pasta Primavera

Check out a nice write-up of my latest single here. I always appreciate it when people share my music, thanks to Laurent for the shout-out. It’s been a fantastic week of feedback on this little home recording–it’s great to be surrounded by such support.

Butt-dialed By Coincidence

Earlier this week, a friend recommended a band: Sun Hotel. He told me to take a listen: so I did–they were great! He had friends in this band and he thought  we should meet and play, somewhere down the road. But iPhones had other plans.

Around 12:30 am, two nights ago, I received a call from an unknown number. I picked up the phone and all I heard was guitars. I listened on and heard the sounds of a crowd. I was most certainly listening to a show. Live music butt-dialed me. It was perfect, not creepy–because, remember, live music called me. It was all very ghostly and surreal.

The next day I got another call from the same number. I picked up and heard, again, the sounds of an unintentional phone-call. I decided to text the ghosts of rock and roll to ask who had unwittingly called me up–engaged my line?  It turned out to be a member of Sun Hotel. He was extremely cordial and apologetic for his overly-eager phone; we exchanged music and a network was formed. As I leave college and enter the working world, I will choose to believe that networking is that easy.

Here is Sun Hotel, enjoy. If you listen enough they will call you!

**NEW TRACK**

“Bloodline” Bloodline (Singles)

Bloodline1

“Bloodline” marks my foray into the exhilarating and terrifying world of sound production. As this is a song about homecomings, it seemed only right to record this track in my old room. It’s very inspiring and encouraging to be surrounded by your old Little League trophies–they don’t just give those out to anyone.

Enjoy the track!

It’s been a while since my last post, and there is a conspicuous absence of anything regarding the “tour”. Here’s why. The night before we were to take off for Philadelphia, the first stop on our 14 day tour-extravaganza, my appendix burst. Only, I didn’t know this right away. I just thought, “hey, I really have to fart.” That fart never came, and after a long, sleepless night of trying in vain to will gas out of my body, I decided to go to the hospital. Sure enough, that little vestigial sucker was burst, kablooey. Unfortunately, my plans for tour were also burst, kablooey. But, such is life, and I’m very glad to be in good health and thankful for all of the kind wishes that everyone has sent.

While, in some ways it’s been a pretty slow set of weeks, it’s also been a very eventful time for me and my music. Most importantly, my newest album Long Gone EP is now available on iTunes. Click here to get your copy!

Secondly, last Sunday, August 8, I had the distinct pleasure of opening up for The David Wax Museum. For those of you who don’t know them, they are an up-and-coming folk sensation from Boston. Recently, they have been getting heaps of attention for their performance at the Newport Folk Festival. Their sound is beautiful, thoughtful and endearing. Click here to watch some of their performance on Youtube.  Special thanks to Steve Kolowich for his help in making it all possible.

July 15, 2010

It is hot. Very much too damn hot. But here is a splash of refreshing news: The album is almost here! I just submitted the artwork, mastertracks and digital information for pressing. The album, if all goes well, will “drop” July 21st–just in time for the first show of the tour at bloombars, in DC.  Stay tuned for more specific ways to get this album.

au revoir,

Louis.

Nice to blog you!

Hello, peoples of the interweb! This is my first blog post of his first blog of his first life. This blog is my attempt at letting the world know what my music is up to, and, less importantly, what I am up to. As this is my first post, there is a lot of temptation to go hay-wire, willy-nilly, hurleyburley, but I will try and be concise and direct, etc. Here’s what’s going on right now.

I’ve just returned from Rye Brook, NY, where I spent five long days recording new tunes for my upcoming, unnamed EP. I had a wonderful experience with Ben Goldstein in Studio A of SUNY Purchase Studio Core and I am hopeful that the EP will come together beautifully.

On Wednesday, the wonderful Zoe Young came up to the studio to record some tunes with me. Zoe and I have a long musical history that stretches all the way back to the mullet-addled island of Ireland, where we met in the library: she: reading Ulysses, I: trying to read Ulysses. We formed a band and became The Ramparts. We performed on the street, in pubs, in clubs and opened up for such acts as Andy Bell and Bare Audio. We were affectionately known in a Dunne’s Superstore one time as “that American band!” So, when I saw Zoe again for the first time in 6 months, we wept in beautiful, American parallel thirds. Here are some pictures of Studio A and its ratty inhabitants.
